This July, our founding Lama, Khenpo Lekshey, is giving a series of teachings that are a rare opportunity here in the UK. As any Buddhist could tell you, the way to enlightenment in Buddhism proceeds through a step by step development of compassion and wisdom. Khenpo is going to give us detailed commentary and instruction on a text known as the 37 Boddhisatva Practices.
In this guide the great master, Tokme Zangpo, provided us with an indispensable set of instructions for this graduated path which we can practice in our everyday lives. The original text was presented in the form of 37 personal meditations in verse, and has been studied and practised continuously for centuries and describes the path of the bodhisattva, one who has made a commitment to the Buddhist path.
The 37 Bodhisattva Practices is a practical guide to cultivating the awakening mind and generating the qualities of love, compassion, generosity, and patience. It is a suitable teaching for all Buddhists (both new and experienced practitioners) and non-Buddhists. Refuge (the act of becoming a Buddhist) is not required and these set of teachings are open to all members of the public. As the teachings are based on 37 individual instructions, these set of teachings can be attended in part (e.g. 1 or more individual sessions) or as a whole course. This is not something you strictly have to pay for, but people who are not contributing members of the community will be encouraged to make a small voluntary donation towards the running of the centre and our ability to accomodate Khenpo for these precious teachings.
Please look at our calendar for the dates of the sessions.
